Congratulations to all the members of the sector who made it possible!\u201d EPN.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dt><span style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto declared that the World Tourism Organization (WTO) announced that\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mexico moved up from the world\u2019s 9th to 8th most visited country<\/strong><span style=\"text-align: justify;\">, with 35 million tourists in 2016.<\/span><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-7 pull-left\">\n<div class=\"article-body\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The World Tourism Barometer published by UNWTO indicates that the arrival of more tourists enabled Mexico to improve its ranking to above\u00a0<strong>Thailand and Turkey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe also moved up from 16th to 14th place in tourism revenue. Congratulations to all the members of the sector who made it possible\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this Administration, Mexico has had a growing, record upturn in tourism.\u00a0<strong>The number of foreign visitors has grown by more than 50%.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Mexico obtained $19.6 billion USD in foreign exchange earnings in 2016.<\/li>\n<li>In 2012, Mexico received $12 billion USD from foreign tourism, which rose to almost $20 billion in 2016.<\/li>\n<li>Tourism activity accounts for 8.9% of the national economy.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOur country is being consolidated as a global tourist power.
