{"id":74375,"date":"2015-11-20T16:42:57","date_gmt":"2015-11-20T21:42:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/selasite.azurewebsites.net\/bvi-government-moves-forward-with-renewable-energy\/"},"modified":"2015-11-20T16:42:57","modified_gmt":"2015-11-20T21:42:57","slug":"bvi-government-moves-forward-with-renewable-energy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rmtsolutions.net\/sela\/bvi-government-moves-forward-with-renewable-energy\/","title":{"rendered":"BVI government moves forward with renewable energy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">ROAD TOWN, BVI &#8212; The government of the British Virgin Islands is preparing to integrate renewable energy sources as part of the electricity infrastructure in the territory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">news 2.webp The ministry of communications and works is anticipating that by 2023, thirty percent of the territory\u2019s power will be generated by renewable energy sources through the use of wind, solar, waste and waste heat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Minister for communications and works, Mark Vanterpool, said that it is imperative to get this initiative implemented quickly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Additionally, as part of the move to incorporate greater use of renewable energy, the government of the BVI will also be replacing the old street light system with a modern LED (light emitting diode) system that uses solar power for the street lights throughout the territory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">These combined efforts are designed to reduce the territory\u2019s dependence on imported fossil fuels, reflecting the government\u2019s global responsibility to reduce the territory\u2019s carbon footprint.
